Strategic Priorities

Granville Island Council 2026 – 2028 Strategic Priorities

The Granville Island Council is pleased to share its Strategic Priorities for the current term. These 2026-2028 priorities build on the work of the previous term and cover the major areas of focus that the Council will be prioritizing in tandem with CMHC-Granville Island staff. The Strategic Priorities are updated for each new Council term and progress towards the priorities is reviewed annually.  Council Member Johanna Lauyanto provides further information in the backgrounder below.

2026 to 2028 Strategic Priorities

2026-2028 Strategic Priorities Backgrounder

The four key goals of Granville Island 2040, our commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, our work on inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility, and our focus on community building and engagement form the foundation of our work on the island.

This foundation helped us articulate our priorities for the next three years, which are: Reconciliation, Financial Sustainability, Asset Management, and Engagement & Advocacy with a particular emphasis on meaningful tenant and community engagement and a strategic approach to government advocacy.

We feel our refreshed priorities reflect the realities and opportunities of the moment we are in. They speak to our collective commitment to continue strengthening Granville Island as a vibrant, inclusive, financially sustainable, and creatively alive public place. We are excited for what comes next and grateful for the continued collaboration and care that so many people bring to Granville Island every day.
